Oak Brook, IL– The DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau is again a proud sponsor of The Nike Bauer International AAA Invite, the word’s largest AAA hockey tournament, taking place November 2 to November 4, 2007. The greater Chicagoland area is set to welcome 280 teams with nearly 15,000 players, families and spectators for this annual event. The tournament will feature different age categories of players born between 1991 through 1998 and includes teams from 26 different states as well as Canada, Russia, Slovenia and the Ukraine. The tournament kicks off at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge with The Nike Bauer Mobile Exhibit Trailer, hockey legends Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull welcoming all coaches and managers, a new Nike Bauer concept store with the latest line of hockey apparel and equipment, and a highly-anticipated match up between the Russian National 1992 team against the Toronto Jr. Canadians. The Nike Bauer Invite is expected to secure 12,000 booked room nights at area hotels and generate $8.1 million in direct spending within the region and have an economic impact of $19.8 million. With its diverse attractions, entertainment, sports, shopping centers, hotels and resorts, the DuPage County area is the perfect setting for this exciting event. “Very few initiatives are able to promote the game of hockey in such a positive way, and the long-lasting and global friendships are in place for parents and youth to find unity both on and off the ice,” said Kevin Mann, Tournament President. “We are extremely proud to have the DuPage CVB as one of our main sponsors for this wonderful hockey showcase. Many of these young players may well go on to compete in the NHL and Olympics, and tournaments such as this can only help to develop and encourage hockey talent for the future. To take part in such a highly-competitive and fun event provides an invaluable experience for the young people of different geographical areas.” “The event has proved very successful in the past and we expect it to be no different this year,” said Lisa Landers, CMP, Director of Sales for DuPage CVB. “This tournament demonstrates that DuPage is a premier location to host world-class sporting events that benefit the community and local economy,” she added.
