The Odyssey II treated media and event planners to a preview cruise 2007 May 2, 2007. Hereschicago.com was invited to celebrate the launch of the 2007 season with an exclusive look at a truly magnificent sensory experience on the Odyssey II.
Guests were treated to Chicago’s world famous architecture and impressive skyline through Odyssey’s large windows with the sounds of swingin’ melodies of the Odyssey’s own Mike Frost Project. Dinner unveiled new menu offerings, exclusively prepared by Executive Chef Leonel Martinez.
The evening started out with 6 p.m. cocktails and Hors d’Oeuvres such as Red Tomato Crisp filled with Nova Lox Mousse and Mujjol Caviar, Stiped European Cucumber topped with Whipped Basil Feta Chees, Spicy Black Bean Tostada with Santa Fe Smoked Chicken Salad. During this time, the sounds of the Mike Frost Project entertained the guests. Dan Russell, VP and General Manager of Odyssey Cruises provided a genuine heartfelt welcome to all of the attendees prior to dinner being served. Dan is extremely passionate about the Odyssey and he really knows how to provide his groups and private events with a fine dining experience aboard the Odyssey.
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., guests were invited to venture to the Observation Deck (top deck) to watch Odyssey II set sail and capture the first sights of the spectacular Chicago skyline. At our leisure, we were invited to sit down for dinner. Our server, Pam (who was absolutely fantastic!!), asked how we would like to pace our four-course meal.

Our waitress, Pam
The first course included Roasted Duck Confit, Baby Wedge Salad, Lobster Bisque and Argentinean Scallops.
The Main course provided a choice of Tuscan Chicken, North Atlantic Salmon, Beef Short Ribs, Seafood Ravioli Grantinee, Two Bone French Pork Chop and Mediterranean Vegetable Purse.
Throughout the evening, the Odyssey’s Master Captain, Jason Stachnik, Executive Chef, Leaoel Martinez and architectural docent Brian Parker were available for questions and comments.
Finally, the Odyssey II returned to the dock at 10 p.m. and we picked up our memory of our time via a photo which was waiting for us at the bottom of the ramp as we disembarked the ship.

Your Private Yacht Charter or cruise in Chicago on Navy Pier. Tips from the Pros that every event planner should know before booking a private Yacht Charter or cruise in Chicago on Navy Pier.
The City of Chicago has some of the most fantastic scenery. What a better way to experience it than on a private boat while entertaining corporate clients or friends, cruising along the shoreline. Boat Charters in
Chicago provide a great chance to Cruise and see fireworks off of Navy Pier but planning a private Yacht Charter can be made easier when one knows some of the insiders tips to a successful Charter. The following are
some insights for booking a Corporate, Private, Group, Moonlight, Cocktail, Dinner or lunch
cruise or charter from the Staff at
Kanan Cruises on Navy Pier in
Chicago.
-Tip #1 that every event planner should know before booking a private Yacht Charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Have a Date for your Charter in Mind and a guest count that you plan to have aboard the boat for the cruise. This information is key to give your sales representative a good starting point to give you exactly what you are looking for during your boat cruise.
-Tip#2 that every event planner should know before booking a private Yacht Charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Decide on a budget for your boat charter or corporate cruise prior to contacting a representative. Often, sales offices take your budget and work to meet or beat it. Private boat cruises for Lunch, Dinner, Cocktail or moonlight are very client specific. Services can be customized to meet a specific budget for the cruise.
-Tip #3 that every event planner should know before booking a private Yacht Charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Know your Cuisine options. Boats in
Chicago offer a wide variety of food. You can have a buffet lunch or Dinner, a private plated cuisine, or a moonlight or cocktail cruise menu to accompany an open bar. Kanan Cruises for example host four distinctly separate caterers that offer a wide array of cuisine for every palate. Don’t hesitate to get a quote and or tasting from a few caterers to see which dinner, lunch, moonlight or cocktail cruise package best meets your private charter and entertainment needs.
-Tip #4 that every event planner should know before booking a private Yacht Charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Be Flexible. Private and group charter cruise lines in
Chicago and on Navy Pier book many of there cruises years in advance. Thus, some of the prime days including fireworks cruises, and weekend nights book up long in advance. Thus, the date one may be looking for for a charter may be booked up on that cruise date. If you have the opportunity to be flexible in your cruise time or cruise date, you may be able to save quite a bit on a charter close to your initial cruise request.
Tip #5 that every event planner should know before booking a private yacht charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Take a Tour of the Private charter cruise vessel prior to booking your cruise. Most cruise line sales representatives are happy to schedule a private showing of a charter cruise vessel at a time that suits you. This will give you a chance to see where dinner, cocktails, and entertainment will be. Pictures can only do so much to give a feel for the true feeling of a cruise charter vessel.
Tip #6 that every event planner should know before booking a private yacht charter or cruise in
Chicago on Navy Pier:
Read your contract. Today’s environment is full of disclosure statements and terms and conditions and contract. All too often, one may sign on the dotted line and not take a moment to read what they are signing off on. The cruise and private charter industry is quite perishable. As a result, cancellation procedures are quite stern. Make sure to read and confirm all terms and conditions before locking into a charter or cruise.
If you have any questions about chartering a private boat in Chicago, please give the staff at Kanan Cruises a call. We can work with you to make your corporate entertainment charter or cruise one to remember! Contact Ryan FieldsSales Manager
